Adoption status: Adopted! |
Hi my name is Roxy and I’m a female black and tan Shiba Inu. I was born 10/03/2003 so that makes me 11 years old! I have lived with one family my entire life. I was well-loved and taken care of my whole life, but my family is no longer is able to keep me and my sister, Lexi, also a senior, so we are now in rescue with DC SIR. You may remember my brother Niito. He was surrendered to DC SIR a year ago & found an incredible family! I have lived with lots of different people in my life, roommates, children, lots of other dogs and cats so I am great with everyone I meet. They all love me. I am currently on phenobarbital for seizures which are affordable pills. I had an episode of cluster seizures back in 2007 and have not had an episode since. DC SIR’s Vet would like to see if we can remove medication and manage with diet. DC SIR will be putting me and Roxy on their Senior Health Program and doing a thorough vet check and senior panel to make sure we are in tip top shape before we go to a real forever home. They say senior Shibas are the most costly but we are also the most grateful. I’m real grateful to be in a rescue who will ensure I receive the best care and perfect home with my sister.
I’ve been with DC SIR for a day so let me tell you more about me. I was a bit nervous in my new home at first and I waited by the door I came in to let my foster mom know I wanted to go home. I also explored the house and checked all the doors and rooms to see if any of them led me back to my family. I may seem more aloof than my sister, Lexi, but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel sadness. I was happy to explore the garden in my foster home. I sniffed all the scents. My foster mom also has blankets from my old home and wherever she puts them is where I choose to sleep. I like to lay in the sun and on soft beds. My foster mom says I have a great smile, do you agree? I am a small Shiba but I have a strong personality. I would love a kind family who would open their home to me and my sister. My family used to take me on one mile long walks when they could, so I am quite active for a senior Shiba Inu. Please share my story to help us get the funding for our medical care and find our perfect forever home.
