Hello everyone, my name is now Izumi, and it means ‘fountain’ in Japanese. I am a 9-month-old, pinto, male Shiba Inu. I’m a small boy at 19 lbs, but I have big paws I need to grow into! My owners didn’t realize how much time it would take to handle a puppy like me, but they wanted the very best for me and worked on getting me into DC SIR to ensure I have the best home possible! My owners took me to puppy class, so I know all the basic training. I met the neutral dog, Katniss for my intake assessment and I passed the other dog test. Soon I got to go to Shiba HQ where I got to meet a lot of other dogs! They were a bit scary at first but when I realized they were friendly, I invited them to play with me by offering them my cutest play bows. I ran the zoomies around the yard with the other dogs, and it was so fun. If any of the dogs growled at me, I just put my head down and backed away. I didn’t need a bath or nail trim when I arrived at Shiba HQ because my owners made sure this was done before I got there so I could focus on bonding with my foster mom, playing with other dogs and eating some yummy food. I’m a growing boy, so I’m going to eat complete raw meals three times a day. I even got to try some yummy raw goat milk from Answers Pet Food, and it was so delicious that I drank it all up and didn’t leave one drop. I bonded to my foster mom pretty quickly and followed her around the house and curled up next to her on the couch after one of the older dogs barked at me. DC SIR just met me, but they think I have been nicely socialized. They heard I like to chew on things, but I’m a puppy so of course, I chew! DC SIR will make sure I have appropriate things to chew on and that I get rewarded for my good behavior. I will need a minimum of two weeks for DCSIR to assess my health and temperament before I will be available for adoption. That way DC SIR can give you accurate information and expectations about me!
