Hello everyone, my name is now Mana ?, and it means “Love” in Japanese. I am a young female Shiba Inu, DC SIR thinks I am around 6-months-old, but they will have a vet check and guess my age. I was pulled from a local shelter when no one came to claim me. I was covered in fleas and ticks and pretty skinny. The shelter said I was a sweet but timid girl. DC SIR found a volunteer to drive all day to pick me up and take me to Shiba HQ. I was quiet the entire drive, just wondering where I was going. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I explored the yard on my own. I stayed away from my foster mom because I didn’t trust anyone. But once the other rescue dogs came out, I was happy to greet them. I cowered down to show the other dogs that I wasn’t a threat. Once I knew they wouldn’t hurt me and were all so friendly, I ran around with them, jumping, sniffing, and exploring. Soon that ended, and my foster mom finally caught me to take me in for a bath. First, she held me in her arms and trimmed all my nails. I held on to her, but I didn’t protest as she trimmed all 10 nails. She spent a long time picking ticks off me. I had ticks on my butt, chin, ears, neck, legs, and even a tick on my eyelids! Once I was dried and de-ticked, I got to run in the yard again. I also have an xpen area where I can eat and sleep in peace. After eating, I didn’t want to sleep, so I got to go back out and play again. I am starting to trust my foster mom and come up to her for pets. I love boiled chicken and raw food! The other rescues are teaching me how to use the dog door, so I can take myself potty and play with the other rescues. DC SIR has my vet appointment scheduled for later this month. They will give you a better idea of my age & update you on my health and age.
