Hello everyone, my name is now Kenshin which means (ken) “humble, modest” and (shin) meaning “trust, believe“ Japanese. I was born December 28, 2013. I have only ever lived with one family who has loved me very much. But most of my life has been uncomfortable. You see, I have severe allergies that leave my eyes bald, infected, & at times bloody. My family spent thousands of dollars on me at the vets & when all the drugs no longer worked on me, my family reached out to Rescues for help. Luckily, DC SIR saw my story & even though I am outside their pull area, all the way in Texas, they made an exception to bring me into their Rescue because they cure dogs like me without ever using drugs that destroy my immune system!

Since I was so far away from Shiba HQ it took some time to find a transport for me but I was able to get on a truck with over 100 other dogs on a 3-day transport to Virginia. When I arrived at my pick up location, my foster mom picked me up and gave me a lot of kisses and treats. I was happy to be in a quiet car and she massaged my head for the 2-hour drive to Shiba HQ. I arrived late at night and met a lot of other dogs. My foster mom tried to put me in an xpen for the evening but I wasn’t having that and jumped out to be with the other dogs. I cried a lot during the night but finally fell asleep on the couch. In the morning I was so happy to see my foster mom and I pranced about. She gave me a bath because my fur was very greasy. I howled to show my displeasure but I was very still for my nail trim! After that, I got to go back with the other dogs in Shiba HQ and explore the yard. DC SIR said it is going to take months to undo what a broken veterinary system has done to my immune system but they are confident they can help me get better despite living on various drugs for the past three years. Please consider donating to my fund as my treatment isn’t reimbursed by funding organizations that only allocate funds for traditional veterinary care.
