Anzen

Hello everyone, my name is now Anzen, and it means ‘peace’ in Japanese. I am a 6-year-old, 20lb, male Shiba Inu. I was in a Pennsylvania puppy mill waiting to be released to a rescue since my breeders acquired me with a breeding female, but they didn’t want another male. DC SIR was having financial difficulties because they haven’t been able to do any fundraisers. They were about to shut down until they saw my story. So many fans came together to help them help me. When they came to pick me up, I was scared and confused. They said I smelled really bad, but the volunteers comforted me and told me everything was going to change for the better. I rode in a crate for the three-hour drive to Shiba HQ and I would peek over at the volunteers. When we arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to run around in the grass. I was so happy that I frolicked with joy. I also met the resident and foster dogs, and I got along with everyone right away. I had very long nails, so I had all my nails trimmed when it was time for my bath. I was so dirty and smelly that the volunteer had to wash and rinse me three times before the water would run clear. Once I was clean, I really came out of my shell. I did the zoomies all over the yard! I kept running up to the volunteer and gave her kisses to let her know how happy I am to be free! DC SIR thinks I probably lived free as someone’s pet before. I am not as fearful of people as lifetime mill dogs who never knew about freedom. I learned to use the doggie door in minutes, and I was comfortable indoors following around the volunteer. I spent the night at Shiba HQ in my private room off the kitchen. I was so happy to see my rescuers in the morning that I shook my butt and gave them kisses. I left for my foster home later that morning. I will be living with another DC SIR alum, Kansha, and my foster parents will fill you in on my progress on Instagram. Thank you to everyone who helped rescue me! I will be neutered and fully vetted shortly! Please share my album so that I can find a home!
