Hello everyone, my name is now Arata, and it means ‘fresh/new’ in Japanese. I am a 5-year-old, male Shiba Inu. I’m a big boy at 60 lbs! DC SIR says I need to lose a lot of weight so I can be a healthy and happy boy! I lost the only home I had known because my family had children and I don’t get along with them. But I do great with adults and other dogs. When the DC SIR volunteer picked me up from transport, I was very nervous and cried and panted. I arrived at Shiba HQ, and it took some time for them to find a harness that would fit me! I got a matching set in blue, and they said I looked handsome. I was so nervous when I got there I drooled at the mouth and my bowel movements turned to diarrhea. I cried at the gate trying to get the volunteer to take me back home, but I didn’t get to go home; instead, another volunteer came to drive me to my new foster home in DC. I’m a good boy, and I don’t understand why I’m not with my family, but DC SIR promised me that I will be healthy and live a happy life with a family that will love me as much as I love them forever and until the end. DC SIR thinks I could do great in a multi-dog home and maybe with cats too. I am a typical Shiba Inu that will need time to warm up to strangers, but if you take the time to get to know me I can be your best friend! DC SIR is going to work on my weight with a nutrient-dense, balanced raw diet and plenty of exercise! I will always be a big Shiba since I am taller than most, but I won’t be so heavy so I can walk without getting out of breath or jump in a car without someone picking me up. DC SIR will tell you more about me as they get to know my personality. Right now I am so scared and nervous that there isn’t much to say. They can tell you that I am a sensitive boy and very sad to lose my family. I hope you will consider adding me to your family because I promise to love you forever if you do!
