Hello everyone, my name is now Buutsu, and it means ‘boots’ in Japanese. I am an 11-week-old male puppy. I was surrendered to DC SIR because a family member was allergic to me. They took the time to make sure that I went to the best possible place and asked a lot of questions to ensure I would have a great environment while I wait for my forever home. When I met the volunteer who picked me up, I was all butt wiggles and dancing feet! Once I was in the crate for the car ride to Shiba HQ, I got a bit nervous. I got to meet a little puppy like me, Miwa, when I got there. She helped me feel safe. Soon I met other foster dogs of all ages. When I saw how much fun everyone was having, I joined in the play, and I haven’t stopped playing! DC SIR thinks I am going to be a big boy because of my big paws. I like to eat, and I will just go into Miwa’s bowls and try to eat her food when I am done, and I even do that with the big dogs. So I need to learn some ‘table manners.’ I like to be around and greet people, but I am a bit shy about being pet or being picked up, so DC SIR will help me. When I first arrived, I played ruff with Miwa, and I tumbled her, but the other Shibas are helping me play appropriately. They say there are a lot of benefits to being in a multigeneration-dog home. It’s not just fun and play but social manners with other dogs too. I haven’t had any accidents and my foster mom takes me potty when I call to her in the middle of the night. While I am in foster, I am going to do a lot of fun things that will help me be a well-adjusted Shiba. I am going to go on adventures, and I even went to the vet for another dog’s appointment, and I had fun and got lots of treats, so the vet won’t seem so bad when I have to go again for my check-up. DC SIR has an entire section of puppy socialization on their website, so they will want you to read that before applying to adopt me. DC SIR says I will be VERY popular, so please be kind to the volunteers who spend every night doing calls to find me the perfect home!
