Hello everyone! My name is now Cayce! I am named after a city in South Carolina, picked from fans because I am from SC! I am a year-and-a-half-year-old female, Shiba Inu. Even though I am young, I have already lived in a few homes. I was purchased off Craigslist earlier this year, but my owner had lost a family member, and I ended up spending a lot of time living in a crate. Apparently, my first two homes kept me crated most of the time because of their busy schedules. Thankfully, another family member took me in until they could find a better home for me. I did have some tummy issues, and that took some time and vet visits to resolve, but I am fine now. My temporary mom drove me all the way from SC to meet a DC SIR volunteer. When my foster mom picked me up, she noticed I was nervous. After a long trip, I rode well in the car for the remaining hour and a half. Once I arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard on my own. I was interested in all the smells and sniffed for some time. Soon, I met the other friendly rescue dogs at Shiba HQ. I was a bit nervous and would sniff them when they weren’t looking at me. After I realized how friendly everyone was, I started to prance around and play. Within a few hours, I learned the doggie door! That evening, I met a strange creature called a cat! I barked at it for some time and would try to stick my nose in his fur to figure out what he was. Now, a couple of days later, I no longer bark at the cat. I love being in a multi-dog house and am great with people and body handling. I am fully vetted, and DC SIR thinks I will be ready for adoption right at my initial 2-week behavior and health assessment. If you think I would be a good fit for your family, apply to adopt me today!
