Hello everyone, my name is Hiru, which means “Daylight” in Japanese. I was abandoned by my previous owner and left without food for three months. Luckily someone stopped by the apartment to do some work and found me; they took me to the vet since I was so skinny and covered with fleas. The vet had heard of DCSIR and knew I would be taken care of; after gaining five pounds with a two week stay at the vet (surrounded by other dogs and cats) I was ready to go to my foster home. I was such a brave boy in the car ride home; I even fell asleep in my car carrier. It was exciting to get to my foster home and run free on the grass and smell everything new. My foster mom says I act like a playful puppy, and I have a very strong prey drive. On my random walks I love to chase squirrels and birds and leaves—anything that moves! I am a bit shy at first but then eager for you to play with me! I have already destuffed several toys and am constantly looking for something to chew; I haven’t had a lot of training so I will need to learn learn manners and stop lunging at objects on our walks. I’m just so friendly and want to play with everyone. My current foster home has a senior shiba sibling who tolerates my hyperactivity, but I would love a furever home with another playful dog! I will just need my 2-week medical and temperament evaluation, and I should be available for adoption. Please follow my story and apply to adopt me if I seem to be a great fit for your family!
