Hello everyone, my name is now Katachi, and it means “Shape’ in Japanese. I was born on July 3, 2022, and sold to a Pet Store. When the store took me to the vet to clear me, they noted I had vision impairment and deemed I was not fit for sale. Thankfully, the pet store contacted DC SIR to take me. They will ensure I get the care needed to keep my eyesight, if possible. When the volunteer came to pick me up, I was shivering all over. There was a lot of barking, and I was scared. I also had a snotty and runny nose, but I still liked to take treats from the volunteer! We had a long drive to Shiba HQ. I got to sit in the front seat in a doggie booster seat, and I settled in and slept or tried to get in my foster mom’s lap. After we arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard. I was so happy to be on soft grass that I did zoomies and pranced around. I followed my foster mom everywhere! But sometimes, if she stands still for a long time, I can’t figure out where she went! I can see movement, so I can find you as long as you move! Soon I got to meet the other dogs and I absolutely love meeting and playing with other dogs. I am a happy boy, and I love people, dogs, and cats. DC SIR doesn’t know much about my condition yet. The initial vet visit didn’t find any underlying issues, so we will need more tests to see what my prognosis will be for the long term. My foster mom says I am very smart. I learned to use the stairs and the dog door the first day I was in rescue. I am also learning to potty outdoors with the other dogs. I have two other puppies to play with and boy oh boy do we have fun! I learn how to do things from the other Shibas, and I learn fast. My foster mom says I am a healthy boy. I love to eat and explore. I’m really good at following her around the large yard and coming when she calls me. I know I’ll always get something good like yummy treats or playtime! DC SIR is so happy that I was able to come into the rescue instead of the store returning me. I hope to find the right family who will love me as I am!
