Hello everyone, my name is now Kei, and it means ‘blessing’ in Japanese. I am a 6-year-old female, sesame, Shiba Inu. I have only ever lived with one family my whole life. Earlier this year, they took me to a VA shelter, and DC SIR was prepared to take me into foster. But the next day, my family came back to pick me up. This time, my family brought me to the shelter again because the landlord raised the pet fee, and they couldn’t afford me. After a week in the shelter, I was getting stressed, and DC SIR scheduled a day to pick me up as soon as they found a no-dog foster home. You see, I’m great with people, I even grew up with children, but I’m not good with other dogs. When the volunteers came to pick me up, I was happy to see them and even happier to go on a walk before our long drive to Shiba HQ. During the ride, I cried a bit but I also got a yummy treat of boiled chicken, so I soon napped on the trip. Once I arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard on my own. I got to meet a couple friendly dogs, and I was very snappy, so they stayed away from me. My nails were very long, and my fur had some dander, so I was taken upstairs for my bath. I’m blowing my fur out, so the volunteer brushed me for some time. After that, I had my nails trimmed and a bath. I didn’t like having my nails trimmed! I wasn’t so sure about the shower either; I was sad and thought it might last forever. When I was done, the volunteer cheered and gave me treats. It felt good to be clean, so I did silly zoomies all over the place. I got to nap in my own room, and after a while I got to eat some Answers Pet food, and I loved it so much I ate it all. My foster mom is on her way to pick me up, so I will be living in the city as an only dog. DC SIR thinks I am going to be a popular girl! If you don’t have other pets and plan to offer a forever home, then please follow my story and consider applying to adopt me after my two-week medical and behavior assessment. I am a good girl, and I hope I can find a home for the holidays, can it be you?
