Hello everyone, my name is Kobe, after a Japanese city. I am an 11-year-old, male Shiba Inu. You may remember I was adopted out by DC SIR a few months ago. Unfortunately, I could not settle in well with the resident cats, so I have returned to DC SIR. At first, I was confused about why my family was leaving me, but the nice DC SIR volunteer gave me treats and comforted me with pets on my chest and shoulders. I got to explore new smells around the yard, while I waited for my new foster mom to pick me up. I greeted them with a wagging tail and came over for more pets! We relaxed together under the shade of a tree before it was time to go to my foster home. I felt a bit nervous on the car ride there and whined a bit, but my foster family comforted me and gave me yummy boiled chicken. They’re so nice to me. I’ve been following them (and the boiled chicken) around the house. They played fetch with me for a little bit, and now I get to relax quietly.
DC SIR thinks I would do best with a dog-savvy adopter who knows how to read canine body language. I previously lived in a multi-dog foster home and thrived with all the dogs and cat there. Unfortunately, my old foster home is full. In my current foster home, I am living with a mom, dad, and human brother. I will do great at public events and on adventures once I am bonded to my family. I am not fond of brushing and nail trims, but my old foster mom did both with me so it can be done if you are patient and work with a trainer to create a positive association with body handling. I’m just a gentle giant looking for a quiet, no-cat home where I can be myself and relax. Follow my story and apply to adopt me!
