Hello everyone, my name is now Kuni, and it means “Country” in Japanese. I am a young female Shiba Inu puppy born in March of 2022. My owner got very sick and wanted to ensure I would get the best home possible, so they contacted DCSIR. I was very well taken care of. My mom took me to basic training classes, and I had all the best toys! I am happy and friendly, and I LOVE to meet other dogs and enjoy getting belly rubs from anyone who will give them. I do love to give kisses in your face and other dog’s faces. Not all dogs like that, so I have to learn when not to give my love so aggressively to other dogs, haha. I do have a high prey drive and will chase anything in the yard that runs away from me. I stayed at a DC SIR volunteer house my first night, and I got to play with another friendly Shiba, and it was soooo fun. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I was introduced to so many dogs one by one. I just love love love to play with other dogs. Mana is my new bestest friend, and we play all day. Some of the older dogs snap at me when I jump up in their face, but that’s because I need to learn basic manners. I have met the resident cat and do ok, but sometimes I like to chase him. I LOVE people. If you call my name in a sing-song way, I will run to you like a bullet! My foster mom has taken me to several outings, and I can be a bit nervous unless another dog is with me, but she is making sure I am comfortable in all our adventures. I am smart and know to sit and learned my name. I haven’t had any accidents in my new home, and I sleep through the night in my xpen. I eat yummy raw three times and day. My favorite thing to do is play outside in the yard with my friends. I am a really great Shiba puppy – I know cuz my foster mom says so. I will need to be spayed, and I also have a puppy training contract to ensure I continue all my great habits. I will be available for adoption in 2 weeks, so keep an eye out for more about me!
