Hello everyone, my name is now Kyoto, and it is a city in Japan. I am a 3-year-old male sesame, Shiba Inu. I have already had a few homes in a short time that DC SIR has known about. I was recently with a family for a couple of weeks after the teenage daughter brought me home as a surprise. They then gave me to a friend, and that family didn’t want me and illegally dumped me in the police cage in a PA shelter. The shelter knew I would need a Shiba-savvy adopter and reached out to DC SIR. I was neutered and fully vetted just before coming to DC SIR. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a high-energy puppy-like Shiba that needs to learn basic manners. It is obvious no one ever trained me. I don’t even know ‘sit,’ and I will scream if you put me in a crate! When the DC SIR volunteer came to the shelter to pick me up, I was SUPER excited to see them, and I jumped in their face for kisses! I dug in their purse to see what goodies they had, and I was just so excited to get attention from people. I had a long drive to Shiba HQ, and I had to ride in a crate. I don’t like crates, so I screamed for about 30 minutes until I settled. When I got to Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard on my own. They weren’t sure if I would be good with other dogs from reports at the shelter, but soon I got to meet the neutral dog, Katniss. Things went so well. I got to meet all the other dogs, and it was a perfect integration! I got along with every dog – even the cranky ones! I learned how to use the dog door in an hour. I got a bath and wasn’t a fan of being washed, so I showed off my Shiba scream. When I found the toy bin, I took every single toy out and played with all of them. I love toys, and I love to tear them apart! DC SIR will require that I have a reward-based training contract to learn basic manners and bond with my new adopters. I am a friendly Shiba who needs guidance, but I am eager to learn! I am highly food motivated too. I am a bolter, so you will need to work with me on that also. I will be ready for adoption after my 2-week medical and behavior assessment so let DC SIR know if you would like to adopt me!
