Leo

Leo is a 3 month old male red Shiba inu. Follow his Facebook album.

Hello everyone, my name is now Leo, which means “Lion’ in Japanese. I was born on July 16, 2022, and sold to a Pet Store. A family stopped by the pet store on the way to an appointment and were pressured into buying me. They wanted to change their mind, but the store said they had to pick me up. They realized they weren’t ready for a puppy and contacted DC SIR, who was happy to bring me into a foster home during my critical developmental period. I was shaking and scared when my foster mom picked me up. She spoke to me in a soothing voice, and I began to relax and even play with the toys on our long drive to Shiba HQ. When I got to Shiba HQ, I got to run free on the grass. I pranced and danced about with the freedom to roam! Soon I got to meet the resident Shibas one by one. The other two puppies were excited to play with me, but I am so small, and they tumbled me too hard, so my foster mom picked me up and let me safely play in my large xpen filled with enriching toys, fun games, and yummy treats. I was slowly re-introduced to the puppies one at a time, and they learned to play with me without tumbling me so hard. My foster mom says I have a very sweet and gentle temperament. I am a bit shy, but when I trust you, my eyes light up, and I run to you and give you all my kisses. I learned to climb the stairs and use the doggie door on the second day! My foster mom thinks I am a very smart boy!!! DC SIR says I am a healthy boy with no identifiable issues. I just ended up in rescue because of high-pressure sales at pet stores. DC SIR has a page on its website for you to learn about the dangers of supporting pet stores and puppy mills. I hope you will learn about this, so more puppies like me don’t end up in these places. I will just need my second medical check and 2-week evaluation, and I should be available for adoption. Please follow my story and apply to adopt me if I seem to be a great fit for your family!
