Hello everyone, my name is now Mimosa. When I first arrived at Shiba HQ, my foster mom gave me this name because I hid behind the old Mimosa tree stump. I came from a commercial breeding facility with 12 other Shiba inus to DC SIR in April. We arrived at Shiba HQ at 2 am, and I was too scared to leave my crate. I had a note on my crate that said I was bred at the facility and would be due to have puppies around May 20th. So DC SIR made sure I got extra comfy treatment and nutritious food. They got me to the first vet appointment with Gaia, who needed immediate care for her swollen ears. I had a sonogram, but they didn’t see any puppies, so I may not be pregnant after all. Let me tell you a bit about myself. DC SIR thinks I likely lived my whole life in mills. I don’t know house sounds, and people scare me a lot. I am nervous and will freeze or run from you. I have enjoyed eating all the yummy food, but I usually wait until no one is looking before I eat. I learn really quickly. I learned how to use the dog door by following resident dogs outside. I also learned to go up and down stairs when my foster mom wasn’t looking! I often get free reign of the house, but I pace a lot, and my foster mom worries about me stressing too much. She plays me soft music for dogs that puts me to sleep every night. I love exploring the outdoors. Sometimes when no one is looking, I will gallop and prance in delight at my freedom. I will also follow the pack of dogs and my foster mom from afar. We worked out a system where I crouch and prepare for her to pick me up when she says, ‘Up! Up!” I am a young, healthy dog, but I have a tooth with an exposed pulp that must be removed and excessive tartar on one side. Will you help me get my medical care and share my story to find a forever home?
