Hello everyone, my name is now Misa, and it means, ‘beautiful bud’ in Japanese. I am a 2-year-old, female, Shiba Inu. I lived with one family but I’ve had severe allergies for a long time, and they could not care for me anymore, so I was taken to the Loudoun shelter. Luckily, the shelter called DC SIR to help me. DC SIR was full and stopped taking in dogs but made an exception for me because of my severe allergies. I have been on a series of drugs my whole life and have remained itchy and bald. I have a dry, cracked nose and my legs, belly, and butt are bald and yeasty! I was never spayed, and the vet doesn’t want me to go into surgery until I am healthier. While I was in the shelter, I enjoyed greeting the staff and kissing everyone. I even got to stay in the office, so I wasn’t alone in my kennel, but the staff said I would smell up the room quickly because of my yeast. Luckily, the shelter knew of DC SIR’s ‘Allergy Program’ so I got to leave my kennel for a foster home where I will sleep on a couch or dog bed and play in a yard! That sounded great to me. When I got to Shiba HQ, I got to meet all the other dogs including a couple of allergy dogs who looked even worse than me when they got there. I did well greeting everyone then I had to go to the shower for my bath. DC SIR is weaning me off a lifetime of medication and getting me on a nutrient-dense, diverse raw diet, cleaning up my environment and removing all chemical and topical toxins from my life while using natural but long-term solutions to my allergies. I know DC SIR is SUPER busy because I didn’t even get a name for a couple of days and my story took some time, but I am so happy to be in a rescue that will commit to the long-term recovery and lifetime management of my health. Allergy dogs like me can cost DC SIR a lot of money and time. Please consider donating to help me in my recovery and share my album to help me find my forever home when I am ready.
