Hi everyone, my name is now Mugi, and it means Barley in Japanese. I am a 6-year-old red male Shiba Inu. I have only lived with one family who loved me very much and took me on many adventures. Their life circumstances changed, and they are moving across the country and cannot take me. I lived with small kids and did great in doggie daycare. However, I found myself on transport to Shiba HQ. While the volunteer was nice and spoke to me the whole drive, I was nervous and kept looking for my family. Once I arrived at Shiba HQ, I met all the dogs and got along with everyone. I even got along great with the cat! But I missed my family and would go to every door in the house crying to see the other side of the room in hopes of finding my family. I quickly sought comfort from the volunteer who gave me yummy treats and head massages. I would nudge her to keep petting me because it helped me feel safe. I got to sleep in a volunteer bedroom because they could see how sad I was. I would be going to my foster home the next day, and they wanted me to get some sleep. I cried a lot of the night but eventually slept. I am a small Shiba but a bit overweight. DC SIR will try to help me lose about 5 lbs, so I should be a healthy pup, around 25 lbs. I love meeting people, and when my foster dad came to get me, I leaned into him for more pets and head rubs. On my first day at my foster home, we went for walks to help me calm down. But when I heard running water, I pulled my foster dad towards it. When I got to the creek, I jumped in and started swimming! My previous owners had a goodie bag with all my toys and a life vest, so I am an active dog that loves adventures!
