Hello everyone, my name is now Nyoko, and it means, ‘gem, treasure’ in Japanese. Today is my birthday, and I turned 5-year-old! I lived with my mom and another dog, but over the years, I became reactive to the other dog I grew up with, and my mom made the hard decision to release me to DC SIR. I will be in foster care, where I am the only dog. Let me tell you about myself. I’m good with other dogs 90% of the time, but I can get into big fights when I don’t get my way. I won’t react to other dogs on a walk or in stores, so I’ll be just fine around everyone as long as they don’t live with me! I do love people, and I love to cuddle. I’m very smart, and my mom trained me well! I also like to ride in a booster seat, which my mom gave to the rescue and will go with me to my forever home! When the DC SIR volunteer came to pick me up, I happily greeted her. She did some basic bod handling work, and I passed with a gold star! On the ride to Shiba HQ, I jumped in my car seat and sat like a pawfect passenger.

When we got to Shiba HQ, I didn’t need a bath or nail trim because my mom took care of that. I got to explore the yard and meet the neutral dog, Katniss. We got along great, and I went about my business exploring the yard. While I waited to be picked up from Shiba HQ, I showed off all my pawsome tricks! You can see what I can do on Instagram under #DCSIRNyoko! I will require the standard 2-week behavior and medical evaluation, but DC SIR thinks I will be an easy Shiba to place. If you want a loving and loyal companion that can go with you just about anywhere, consider following my album and apply to adopt me. I am food motivated, and I love yummy treats, so if you want to continue to train me, I would love the challenge. DC SIR plans to take me on hikes and adventures. I hope you will come to an adoption event and meet me. I am a bit confused and nervous, but everyone is so nice and understanding, so I think I will be alright. Please follow and share my story so I can find my pawfect forever home!
