Romeo

Romeo is an approximately 4 year old male red Shiba Inu. Follow his Facebook album.

Hello everyone, my name is now Romeo! I was rescued from an Ohio breeding facility with 5 other females in February, so we all got Valentine-related names! I am a handsome red male Shiba Inu! I am large for a Shiba, but my foster mom calls me a gentle giant. My foster mom picked me up at 1 am at a Sheetz parking lot. While on the drive back to Shiba HQ, I spun and spun in my crate the entire time. I was so happy to be free and run in the yard with my friends. I pranced and jumped around in the grass! I ran to all the other free Shibas, and we pranced around together! Soon, my foster mom brought us in, and I was put in an X-pen next to my other Shiba companions. I started spinning again in my xpen but was happy to be near my friends. My foster mom lets me out of the X-pen when she can watch me or when the unspayed girls are put away. I miss being with my friends. I was living in a run with two other females, and I often sit outside their X-pen just to be near them. Outside my pen I don’t spin unless something scares me. The resident male dog growled at me when I bumped into him, and I got scared, ran away, and started spinning. My foster mom sits in the pen with me and gives me treats and massages, which has helped me calm down. In just a couple of days, I can now enjoy treats and settle in my pen. My foster mom called a bunch of places trying to get me neutered ASAP because there are so many unspayed girls at Shiba HQ. I have my neuter scheduled for this Thursday, so I’ll be able to have free roam of the house after my surgery. I’m a little head-shy until I get to know you. Once I trust you, I’ll nose and paw at you to pet me and give me massages. I also like to play with toys and explore the yard. I sometimes chase the resident cat, so DC SIR doesn’t think I’ll do well with small animals, but I will be a great companion to other dogs my size. I’m so grateful to be free. I still have some trauma from my former life, but with a patient and loving family, I will be the best boy and give you my unconditional love!
