Hello everyone, my name is now Senzo, and it means ‘he who draws out, opens up’ in Japanese. I am a 10-year-old male Shiba Inu. I recently lost the only home I had ever known when my family had a baby that was allergic to me. I have been living outside for the past month until DC SIR found a foster home to take me in. I have lived the past few years with another dog and child. DC SIR is told that I did great with kids and other dogs. I am not neutered, and DC SIR couldn’t get any medical history on me except for a couple emergency visits for seizures that I have had a few times in my life. Since I have no useable medical history, DC SIR quickly scheduled my much-needed vet appointment for neuter, blood work, heartworm and tick–borne disease test, rabies, core vaccinations, and microchip. I had a couple of days to settle in my new foster home so I can be comfortable during my recovery. Let me tell you about myself! I arrived at a volunteer’s house and did great with the female dogs there! After my first night with the volunteer, I went to Shiba HQ to get my bath, nails trimmed, and supplies for my new foster home. I did great in the bath, and the volunteer got a lot of dirt off me. I didn’t like having my nails trimmed and let out a loud Shiba Scream! Other than that, I did great with body handling. I got to hang out with all the dogs at Shiba HQ while I waited for my foster parents to pick me up. I did great with the ladies, but I didn’t so well with the males. When I arrived at my foster home, I got to play fetch all night with my foster family! I also got a lot of yummy boiled chicken, and I just loved all the attention I got. I made myself at home very quickly! I even ate all my delicious raw food, so DC SIR says my transition is going exceptionally well. I should be fully vetted this week, and DC SIR will need to do the standard 2-week behavior and medical assessment before I am available.
