Shiloh

Shiloh is a 4 year old cream female Shiba Inu. Follow her Facebook album.

Hello everyone, my name is now Shiloh, which is of Hebrew origin, meaning tranquil, His gift. My fosters picked this name because I am shy but loving, and I check in on my foster family to make sure they are still there. I perked my ears when my fosters first said ‘Shiloh’ to let them know I liked my new name! I was rescued with 12 other Shibas by DC SIR from a Midwest puppy mill. I arrived at Shiba HQ at 2 am and didn’t know what was happening. I was so scared I just curled up into a tiny ball next to the other Shibas trying to make myself so small that no one would see me. DC SIR volunteers think I am one of the most fearful of the bunch. But my foster parents will tell you how well I am doing in foster care too! I now live with three other Shibas, 2 DCSIR alum, and a foster mom, dad, and baby brother (who is kept at a distance not to scare me). I had a three-hour ride back to my foster home, and I slept most of the way. When I arrived, I explored the fenced backyard and happily met the resident dogs one at a time. I love to explore the yard and all the smells! I’m not used to soft beds, but they feel so comfy that I just fall asleep when I get in one. I even started to play with plush squeak toys! I hold them in my mouth and cuddle with them like I did with my puppies in the mill. My foster parents say that I am getting more confident every day. I even venture out and explore the house when things are quiet. Loud noises and sudden movements still startle me. I love my raw food and gobble it all up! I am learning from my friendly foster shiblings that I can trust people to be kind to me. I will likely need to go to a home with another friendly dog. So if you have the heart and patience for a fearfull Shiba like me, I hope you will apply to be my forever family!
