Hello everyone, my name is now Shuto, and it means ‘capital’ in Japanese. I am a one-year-old, 27lb, male Shiba Inu. I was recently surrendered because a family member is now allergic to me. I am a high-energy and playful Shiba Inu, but I will need a training contract and adopters who will work with my body-handling issues. I can be very mouthy with people when we play, or I don’t want to be touched. I met neutral dog, Katniss, at the dog park for my assessment. I barked at her at first, but with a proper introduction, we got along well. I did run along the fence and yell at the dogs on the other side of the park, and the volunteer could see I have some barrier aggression, but I was easily called off to eat some yummy boiled chicken. When I got in the volunteer’s car, I was very nervous and cried and squirmed for much of the drive. I got to meet all the other dogs at Shiba HQ too. At first, I was nervous and ran away from them, but soon I realized I could run and play freely, so I did zoomies. My new foster dad couldn’t pick me up until the next day, so I spent the night at Shiba HQ. I was nervous, and I howled much of the night. I am brilliant and learned how to use the doggie door in under a minute! I didn’t have any accidents, and I was allowed to sleep wherever I wanted in the family room with the other Shibas. Eventually, a volunteer slept with me on the couch, and I finally fell asleep. The next morning the volunteer had to put my harness back on, and I didn’t like that, so I snapped at her a lot. I don’t like strangers handling me so much before I know them. Once she got my harness on, I headed out to an adoption event where my foster dad picked me up. I enjoyed meeting new people, and I would jump on to greet them. DC SIR thinks I can be a great dog, but I will need some basic training that I missed out on growing up. DC SIR will require a reward-based training contract for me. If you are interested in adopting me, start looking for a trainer and let DC SIR know you would like to adopt me when I finish my 2-week assessment!
