Hello everyone, my name is now Ume, and it means ‘plum blossom’ in Japanese. I am a 6-year-old, 20 lb, female, black and tan, Shiba Inu. I have lived with one family and thrived. However, after my owner’s first child started to crawl around, I got a bit grumpy and growled a lot. They recently found out they are having another child, so they decided to surrender me to DC SIR. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am very smart and know a lot of tricks. DC SIR is told I get along great with people and older kids. I also love other dogs, and I regularly went to doggie daycare and loved it. You may notice a small shaved area on my right shoulder; I was being used as a neutral test dog at daycare and I got bit! This was treated before I came into rescue, and I am all better now. I was very attentive to the volunteer who picked me up because she had yummy boiled chicken! I got to run around Shiba HQ while I waited for my foster parents to pick me up because my owners had me groomed before intake. I love exploring, and I will come when you call me. I showed off all my tricks too! I can sit, lay, spin, jump, high-five, hug, and come! Within the hour of arriving at Shiba HQ, my fosters picked me up and brought all my toys and bed. I am going to be in foster with three other female Shibas! This is great since I love to play!!! When I arrived at my foster home, I got to meet my foster sisters outside one-by-one, and I got along with everyone! You can see how well we did together in my photo album. DC SIR will need two-weeks to evaluate me for adoption requirements. If you think I could be your forever dog please follow my story and let DC SIR know you are interested in adopting me! I love adventures and exploring. I would do great with an active family who will invest time bonding with me and including me in their life. I am spayed and UTD on medical. Feel free to send in an application for me before my two-week evaluation if you think we would be great together!
