My name is Yuri, which means lily in Japanese. My foster family said I’m precious just like the flower. I am a 4-year-old, cream female Shiba Inu. I came from a puppy mill and it was really scary there. I was on a long drive across the country with 12 other puppy mill releases. When I got to Shiba HQ in the middle of the night, I was unsure of what would happen to me. But I was put into an xpen with my friends for comfort. The next day I got a bath! I wasn’t too happy about that but I got years of gunk washed off me. I cuddled next to the other Shibas for comfort. The volunteers noticed that I am more confident than a lot of the other mill dogs so they made sure I went to a foster home with a more fearfulShiba. I’m hoping to help her be more confident in rescue. My foster parents came to Shiba HQ and spent time giving me chicken before taking me out to walk on leash in the yard. I did really well on leash! I’m so glad I was rescued and brought here to my foster home. I’m super curious about everything. I’ve been investigating the house looking for new spots to hang out in. They have stairs. I’ve never seen those before. It was scary taking the first step, but I’ve got the hang of it now. I can go up and down them, which means more places for me to explore! I really like my foster brother, Yama. He tries to play with me, but I don’t really know how to play back. I’ll figure it out soon. I’m so glad Moka is with me, the other foster that came from the same mill as me. We snuggle a lot together, which makes me feel safe. When I’m in the backyard, I just want to run. I didn’t like the leash at first but it’s not so scary anymore. I know I’ll get used to this new life soon. Before I know it, I’ll have a new forever family who will love me and take care of me. Will that be you?
