Emi was very fearful of people when she first came into foster care. She is still shy of people but does trust her foster mom, and comes up to her for petting and even does kisses on cue! Emi has lived with many dogs in foster care and gets along with all of them!

Emi and Food

Emi loves food, especially boiled chicken! She is currently on a raw diet and has a very healthy appetite. She eats in the same room as the other Shibas and is usually at the back of the line when it comes to getting a treat, but she is very food motivated! She also LOVES coconut oil. A great way to get her to meet new people is to have them rub organic coconut oil on their hands so she will come up to lick their hands.

Emi’s Favorite Thing

Emi’s favorite thing is not a ball or toy. She loves being outside! Her foster mom thinks she would do best in a home with a back yard. Emi loves being outdoors and makes little beds in tufts of grass. She is often napping under a tree or sunning herself on the patio. Emi is also more playful with the other dogs when she is outdoors.

Emi and Leash Walking

Emi does not like to walk without other dogs. When Emi goes for a walk her tail is up and she loves sniffing ‘stories’ on her journeys. If she is alone she tends to cower and not be so bold. Regardless, being outside is still her favorite thing!

Emi with Other Dogs

Emi LOVES being around other dogs and tends to be more outgoing with people if another dog is near. As a result, DC SIR is making it a requirement that she go to a home with at least one other friendly dog (because of her fearfulness).

Emi has been one of the easier fosters we’ve ever had. Emi has no bad habits and is such a joy to watch. She would be best with someone willing to learn about interacting with fearful dogs can have a wonderful relationship with her!
