It’s been 3 weeks and one day since Kisa’s vet visit with a new holistic vet. We noticed some mild improvement the first 2 weeks on her supplements as we waited for her allergy test results. We’ve had her allergy results for a week and boy, Kisa is allergic to a lot of foods.
Her list of allergies is so long that we decided to list the foods she is not allergic to as it is a very short list:
- Salmon
- Sardines
- Tuna (moderation due to mercury)
- Lamb
- Duck
- Eggs
- Venison
- Carrots
- Peas
So that is it. Because nearly every pre-packaged food has some form of allergen we have been buying grocery meat and a few prepackaged raw foods that are clear of her allergies.
Unfortunately, Kisa was eating foods she was allergic to (beef, rabbit, white fish, turkey etc) while she was with us. In the 1 week we have restricted her food to the list above she is showing visible improvement (less itching and her hair around her eyes are coming in quickly!!). Now our biggest difficulty is finding clean and affordable sources of the proteins listed above.
Note that a dogs allergies can change after a year (no longer sensitive to some foods and developing a new sensitivity to once cleared foods). Also feeding one source of protein can create a new allergy to that overfed protein. This is another reason it is essential that we rotate this variety of meats and sources.
