November is Adopt a Senior Month, so in honor of this we are featuring updates of some of our adopted Senior alumni.
Aki, a 13 year old senior Shiba, was rescued from a kill shelter in the south. She came into rescue nearly bald with infected skin allergies. Her foster mom got her on a raw diet and Aki’s fur quickly filled in!
Even better, her foster mom, a DC SIR Board of Director, adopted her! She was adopted in April 2013. Here is an update from Aki’s mom:
Aki gets a good outing several times a week (downtown, at the park, or with clients), along with Sunday playtime at my sister’s.
She is healthy and in good spirits, although she tires more quickly than she used to.
Aki still enjoys meeting new dogs, rubbing on everything, singing, and dancing when she has the energy.
She has a thick, gorgeous coat and sheds like a beast!
Aki is absolutely one of the most delightful dogs I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.
We are so happy to hear that Aki is doing well in her forever home! Thank you to Aki’s mom for letting us know how she’s been doing!
