Celebrating Seniors: Willow

Willow was rescued by DC SIR and adopted in 2014. Here, her mother shares the story of Willow’s adoption.   My husband, Nick, and I adopted a senior Shiba from DC SIR in early June. She is ten years old. Her name is Willow (formerly Yuki). We were not thinking about adopting a senior and were focused on a Shiba 1 to 4 years old. We also did not want to adopt a puppy at this time due to our schedules.…

Celebrating Seniors: Michio

Michio is a male senior Shiba rescued by DC SIR and adopted in 2013. Here is Micho’s adoption story as told by his mother. In 2013, Bill, Yoshi (male 9 yr. Shiba Inu) and I were living in DC. Foster Update: Kiyoshi

Kiyoshi LOVES belly rubs: this is the fastest way to earn his favor. Chin scratches are also good! Kiyoshi is…

Foster Update: Tiki

Tiki came into rescue with a lot of Shibatude! She was a ball of fire that loved every person she met, but was a bit bossy and overbearing with the other dogs in rescue. She was very reactive towards other dogs when on leash and she had a few squabbles the first week along with some resource guarding of her food and toys. Within a month Tiki made great improvements in getting along with the other dogs in foster care who…

Foster Update: Goma

Hi! I’m Goma! These young humans asking me to do a ‘blog post,’ and I’m kinda getting up there in the years, but I’m a hip old man so I’ll try my best! My favorite activities are taking little naps and strolling through a super nice, half-sunny, half-shady garden! It has to have both, cause otherwise it won’t make the perfect spots for napping. See, I know precisely what I want cause I’ve got 13 years of living under my…
